A very user-friendly process that produces a non-metallic zinc phosphate coating on iron and steel that is highly resistant to corrosion, very durable and long wearing. The traditional, charcoal-gray color is ideal for non-glare finishes on tactical and hunting guns, or restoring older military guns. The large, uniform grain structure and even thickness coating gives excellent retention for lubricants and rust preventives. Also provides an ideal base for spray-on/bake on finishes such as Brownells Baking Lacquer, Aluma-Hyde II and Teflon Moly Gun Finish. The porous surface produced by Zinc Phosphate Parkerizing actually bonds the final finish to the gun for a durable, long wearing coating. A very clean process, Zinc Phosphate leaves almost no sludge buildup around the heating coils in your tank. If you are already setup for parkerizing, switching to Zinc Phosphate is a simple matter of changing chemicals in your tank.
Heavy zinc phosphates are used primarily for their ability to retain rust preventive oils and waxes. Zinc phosphates provide maximum corrosion protection and extended service life. Phos DipŽ 10B - Used to produce a zinc phosphate coating on ferrous metal surfaces to retain lubricants and facilitate drawing of rod and wire products. Low concentrations and short immersion time are advantages. Applied in 30 seconds to 5 minutes at 160oF - 190oF.
Phos DipŽ 38 - A zinc phosphate developed to withstand the deepest draws and most severe deformation. A unique phosphate to nitrate ratio and increased metal accelerator produce the most uniform tight-grained phosphate coating. Used by immersion or in strand line operations to retain borax, lime or reactive lubricants.
Phos DipŽ 47-XD - Provides a zinc phosphate coating on ferrous metals to retain lubricants and aids in tube drawing, stamping, forming, and extruding operations. Reduces metal-to-metal contact thereby increasing tool life, permits faster drawing speeds, allows greater reduction and deeper draws, reduces material breakage and produces a smoother and more uniform surface. Used at 6 percent in immersion applications for 5-6 minutes at 170oF -190oF.
Phos DipŽ 67- A nitrite accelerated, calcium modified zinc phosphate for steel to retain lubricants for drawing, shaping, cold heading and forming. Increases die life significantly. Used at 4.5% by volume for 4-6 minutes at 160oF - 190oF.
Zinc phosphate conversion coatings for producing metals which exhibit enhanced corrosion prevention characteristics are prepared by the addition of a transition-metal-compound promoter comprising a manganese, iron, cobalt, nickel, or copper compound and an electrolyte such as polyacrylic acid, polymethacrylic acid, polyitaconic acid and poly-L-glutamic acid to a phosphating solution. These coatings are further improved by the incorporation of Fe ions. Thermal treatment of zinc phosphate coatings to generate .alpha.-phase anhydrous zinc phosphate improves the corrosion prevention qualities of the resulting coated metal. Zinc Phosphate produces a crystalline zinc phosphate coating that absorbs and holds lubricating oils. The coating, properly sealed and oiled, provides good corrosion protection during storage. Zinc Phosphate, when no oil is applied after coating, is also used as a primer for paint.
